Privacy Policy for Basic Journal

Last Updated: July 25, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Basic Journal (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) handles information when you use our mobile application. Basic Journal is a personal journaling app for reflections, gratitude entries, and mood logging.

Basic Journal is designed to keep everything you enter on your own device. The app has no account, no server, no cloud storage, no analytics, and no advertising. The app does not request Internet access. Your journal content never leaves your device unless you personally choose to share it (for example, by exporting a file yourself, or by sending us a feedback email).

Developer Information

App Name: Basic Journal
Developer: Basic Organizer
Contact Email: basicorganizer.post@gmail.com

Wellness and Informational Disclaimer

Basic Journal is intended for personal journaling and self-reflection only. It is not a medical device, and is not a mental-health service, counseling service, psychotherapy service, or crisis intervention service. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent any medical or psychological condition. Nothing in the app should be considered medical, psychiatric, therapeutic, or crisis advice.

Mood statistics, trends, streaks, and similar summaries are automatically generated from information you enter. They are informational only and may be incomplete or inaccurate. They are not clinical assessments.

If you are in distress or need professional help, please contact a qualified healthcare professional or local emergency / crisis services. Do not rely on this app for urgent or emergency situations.

You use the app and any information it displays at your own discretion and risk. You are solely responsible for any decisions made based on information in the app.

Sensitive Personal Information

Information you enter into Basic Journal — including reflections, gratitude entries, mood logs, and any other free-text or personal content — may be considered personal data and, in some jurisdictions, sensitive personal information (for example, information related to health or emotional well-being).

This information remains stored only on your device and is never transmitted to the developer or to any third party by the app.

Such information is used solely to provide journaling, statistics, reminders, export, and other features within the app. It is never used for advertising, profiling, analytics, marketing, or sold or shared with anyone.

Basic Journal does not use artificial intelligence or external services to analyze your journal content. All processing happens locally on your device.

Basic Journal is not a healthcare provider, health insurer, or other entity covered by the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and this policy is not a HIPAA notice.

Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally

All user data is stored locally on your device. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:

This information is stored in a local database and local app preferences on your device. It is not transmitted to any external servers, to the developer, or to any third parties. We have no ability to see, access, or recover the data you enter into the app.

Optional Export Created by You

You may choose to export selected journal data to a text file using your device’s system file picker. That file is created only when you request it, and is saved where you choose on your device or cloud storage linked to your device.

Once you export a file, that copy is under your control. Exported files are no longer protected by the app’s security features once created. The app does not upload exports to the developer. If you store or share an exported file outside the app (for example in cloud storage or by sending it to someone), that is outside the app’s control and subject to the policies of those services or recipients.

Future Features

The app currently does not collect information off your device. If future versions introduce features that require collecting or transmitting information, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those features become available, and any feature involving sensitive personal information would require your explicit opt-in consent.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect or store on any external server:

The only time your email address becomes visible to us is if you choose to contact us or send feedback by email (see “Feedback and Support Emails” below).

Permissions

Basic Journal may request the following Android permissions, used only for the purposes described:

Permission / capability Purpose
Notifications To show optional journal reminders you schedule.
Exact alarms / schedule exact alarm To deliver reminders at the times you choose, where required by Android.
Boot completed To reschedule your reminders after the device restarts.
Vibrate For optional notification feedback where supported.
Biometric / device credential APIs (optional) Only if you enable app lock with biometric unlock. Biometric matching is performed by the operating system; the app does not receive or store your biometric data.

These permissions are used locally on your device. They are not used to collect or transmit your journal content. You can decline notification or alarm-related permissions; reminders that depend on them will not work until granted. App lock and biometrics are entirely optional.

The app does not require Internet permission and is designed to work offline for its core journaling features.

App Lock and Biometrics

If you enable app lock:

You are responsible for choosing a PIN you can remember. If you forget your PIN and cannot unlock the app, we cannot recover your journal data for you, because we never receive a copy of it.

How We Use Your Information

Feedback and Support Emails

The app includes an optional “Feedback” option that opens your own email application so you can contact the developer voluntarily.

Please do not include sensitive personal content in feedback emails unless it is necessary for your request and you are comfortable sharing it.

Data Security

No method of electronic storage is completely secure. The developer cannot recover information that is deleted, lost, or becomes unavailable because of device failure, reset, loss, damage, forgotten PIN, or app removal. You are responsible for any backups you choose to make (for example, via the in-app export feature).

Children’s Privacy

Data Retention and Deletion

Your Rights and Control

You have full control over your data at all times. You can access, modify, and delete your entries directly within the app, and you can remove all app data by uninstalling the app.

Because we do not collect or hold your personal data on any server, most data-subject requests can be fulfilled entirely by you, on your device. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA/Norway), the UK GDPR, or the CCPA/CPRA (California), including rights of access, correction, deletion, and objection, and the right not to have personal information sold or shared. We do not sell or share your personal information.

If you have contacted us by email and would like that correspondence deleted, you may request this at the address below.

Third-Party Services

Core journaling features do not rely on third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or cloud backends operated by the developer.

When you use optional system features (for example, choosing where to save an export, opening your email app, or using device biometrics), those features are provided by your device manufacturer, operating system, or apps you choose. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies.

International Users

The app processes data locally on your device regardless of your country. If you contact us by email, your message may be processed in the country where the developer or the email provider operates. By contacting us, you understand that your message will be handled in order to respond to your inquiry.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

How This Policy Applies

This Privacy Policy is intended to describe how the app currently handles information. Where applicable, it is designed to reflect the principles of privacy laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, COPPA, and the Google Play Developer Policies (including User Data requirements). Any optional features added in the future will be described in an updated policy before they become available.

This Privacy Policy does not create a contract for professional, medical, or therapeutic services, and it is not legal advice to you.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of, inability to use, or reliance upon the app or its features.

This includes, but is not limited to:

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability. In those places, liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Disclaimer

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

The app is designed to keep your information stored locally on your device. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or absolute security. We cannot guarantee that reminders or notifications will be delivered at a particular time or at all on every device or Android version. The app does not provide medical or mental-health advice and must not be used as a substitute for professional care. You are responsible for maintaining appropriate device security measures, for managing any exports you create, and for any decisions you make based on information in the app.

Acknowledgement

By using Basic Journal, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
